My friend passed on an awesome bootleg to me- The boss live circa 73 I think. It's a show at The Point, which is a NJ (of course) club. The recording is pretty excellent actually, as good as any other live recording of his. Anyways, he does a version of Thunderoad that starts like the one we all know (except "Mary" is named "Angelina") but then he goes into a whole different set of lyrics... "This 442's gonna overheat/Make up your mind girl I gotta get her back out on the street..." I tried to google these lyrics---nothing. Has anyone else heard of this version? BTW, the bootleg has an excellent version of "E Street Shuffle" with same lyrics, but TOTALLY different music/tempo. It also has a piano-only slower version of Incident on 57th Street which is awesome...

Before it was called Thunder road, the song was called Wings for Wheels. That's the version that's on your boot. Obviously Bruce had quite a few girlfriends at the time and it took him a while to decide whose name he was going to use in the song :-) You can find the lyrics here:

There are many boots of Bruce at the Main Point. Bruce used to love the place. It was actually in Bryn Mawr (sp?) in PA I believe. The show you have may be his most famous there, in 1975, where he premiered Wings for Wheels. It is mostly known because of the superb version of Incident at the end of which you can hear a (very appropriate) police siren in the background.
Well, now that you got me thinking about it, I know what CD I'll be listening to tomorrow :-)
