I've just won the Essential 3 CD set off eBay and still don't have the Barcelona DVD that came out last fall. Other than that, I've got them all. No, I'm not the least bit obsessive ... ;-)

Tunnel of Love is one of my favorites though so I hope you get it soon. :)

funny how ill-received 'human touch' and 'lucky town' were, at least here in the u.s. how about where you all are (wherever that is)?

          haha thanks sue!

any bruce fans i meet though do tend to be slightly obsessive and have everything... my fellow tribees have just proven that! i dont have the essentials album either, i figured i had those songs on other albums and i do have a recording of the bonus disc. a friend made a bruce mixtape up for me with some cover versions. ill need to get a tracklisting for it but it includes marah, big country, badly drawn boy etc, with alternative versions of thunder road, streets of philadelphia, and tougher than the rest. i also picked up a bootleg copy of one of the rising shows that i went to last may. brought back so many funny memories!!

also did anyone ever pick up that badlands album of covers? ive heard a few tracks, but nothing that shone out for me. even johnny cash didnt really do 'im on fire' justice. just goes to show how great an artist springsteen really is.

I checked out that Badlands covers CD from my public library out of curiousity. I didn't like it all that much except for Crooked Finger's cover of "Mansion on a Hill" which is probably my favorite Springsteen cover.

Like you, I found the Johnny Cash cover interesting but it couldn't compare to the original, even though it was written with his style in mind.

There were a couple of covers CDs that came with Uncut magazine last April when he appeared on the cover. I can't say I listen to those much either - I prefer the real thing!

Yeah I have that cd Badlands, along with several other cover cds like :
Bruce Springsteen Tribute : Made in the USA
One Step Up/Two Steps Back : The Songs Of Bruce Springsteen
Hometown : String Quartet Tribute to Springsteen
For You : A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen

Of these, I like One Step Up/ Two Steps back best (nice fast versions of Something In the Night and Don't Look Back, Elliot Murphy's really sensitive Stolen Car, David Bowie doing It's Hard to be a Saint in the City... very nice

If you want to expand your collection even more, think of the cd's of various band members as well (Little Steven, Nils Lofgren, Patti Scialfa (I absolutely love her (Rumble Doll) !), Soozie Tyrell, Clarence Clemons) all have made some cds.

You can also think of Bruce's inspiration, like Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and last but not least Woody Guthrie (I love that american folk of the 30s :))

I still need to convert many of the albums I've got from LP's to CD's.
Just recently got the "The Essential" CD...
And it sits in my CD drive on my PC allmost constantly..
